Geomembranes are commonly utilized for the construction of artificial ponds of different sizes and shapes for agricultural projects, in order to contain irrigation water, mining and other industry projects, in order to contain water, solutions or other fluids utilized in its process, gardens and golf courses, in order to provide both an aesthetic benefit, and at the same time containment of great quantities of irrigation water for the grass.

The utilization of geomembranes in pond construction replaces conventional lining systems such as compacted clay layers or concrete placement, providing a more economical and long lasting solution to ensure water containment even in seismic zones, where differential settlements may occur and conventional lining systems tend to crack and leak.
