Reinforcement of Retaining Walls

Woven geotextiles with high tensile strength properties can be used in geosynthetically reinforced soil retaining wall systems.

This retainingsystem consists of high tensile strength elements, in this case woven geotextile layers, extending from the wall face into the soil, to resist the horizontal pressure created by the backfill soil, being restrained through the frictional stresses mobilized between the geotextile layers and the backfill soil.

The type of geotextile to be selected will depend on the tensile strength required and the interaction between soil and the geotextile. Spacing between geotextile layers, as well as their lengths are to be calculated on the retaining wall design.

Omali S.A. can provide design services for geosynthetically reinforced walls and slopes. We also have the capability to direct and execute these types of projects whenever this is required by our clients.
